I graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Istanbul University in 1998.
I currently work as a clinical veterinarian.
My work, which began with the aim of improving the quality of life of animals that have experienced limb loss for various reasons, as well as animals suffering from reduced mobility (paresis) or complete loss of movement (paralysis), and of making the care of disabled animals easier, introduced me to the science of orthopedic orthoses and prosthetics.
Driven by my desire to further develop myself in this field, I enrolled in the Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics program at Acıbadem University in 2022, and completed the program in 2024 as the top-ranked graduate, earning the title of orthopedic orthotics/prosthetics technician (Certified Orthotist–Prosthetist, CPO).
I continue my work on product development and patient-specific manufacturing solutions in a veterinary-specific orthopedic orthotics and prosthetics (V-OP) workshop.
After participating as a guest instructor in 2021, I have been teaching the elective course Prosthetic and Orthotic Applications in Animals in the Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Undergraduate Program at Medipol University since 2022. I believe this course will serve as a bridge between veterinarians and human orthopedic prosthetics–orthotics specialists, and that collaborative work between these fields will increase rapidly in the coming years.
I am currently pursuing a thesis-based Master’s degree at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dokuz Eylül University.
By adopting the principle of continuously following science and technology for the benefit of my patients’ lives, the V-OP work I carry out represents the first orthopedic prosthetic and orthotic studies in our country’s veterinary field that have been developed and produced by veterinarian for animal health.
